A tidy point of attachment job from our Level 2 team in the Hills District.
We installed a new galvanised roof raiser on a tiled roof, fitted a new strain clamp and connectors for the overhead service, and ran the consumer mains down in conduit. The penetration was sealed and flashed so the roof stays watertight.
The point of attachment is where the overhead service line from the street is anchored to your house. On many homes it's a bracket on the fascia or wall. A roof raiser is a steel post that comes up through the roof to lift the service line higher, which helps the line clear driveways, carports and new structures, and gives a stronger anchor than an old fascia bracket.
See our point of attachment repairs and overhead service lines pages for more detail.
Replacing a point of attachment means disconnecting and reconnecting the overhead service, so it must be done by an accredited Level 2 electrician to the NSW Service and Installation Rules. Your regular electrician can't do it unless they hold Level 2 accreditation.
Not when it's installed properly. The roof penetration is flashed and sealed, as on this job.
Usually, yes. Most point of attachment replacements are completed in a single visit, with a short disconnection while the work is done.
